That means it&#8217;s time to dust off your pirate speak and to start communicating in a swashbuckling manner!<\/p>\n<h2><b>Wha&#8217; Be International Talk Like A Pirate Day?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><b>International Talk Like a Pirate Day<\/b>\u00a0was created by John &#8220;Ol&#8217; Chumbucket&#8221; Baur and Mark &#8220;Cap&#8217;n Slappy&#8221; Summers , of\u00a0Oregon, in 1995.\u00a0They proclaimed that on 19 September each year <strong>everyone in the world should talk like a pirate.<span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px; line-height: 20px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Summers says that the day resulted from a so-called sports injury. During a racquetball game between the two, one of shouted &#8220;Aaaarrr!&#8221; in pain and Talk Like A Pirate Day was born.\u00a0<sup id=\"cite_ref-3\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup><\/p>\n<p><strong>Until 2002 it was simply an inside joke<\/strong> between friends, but the holiday gained traction when the pair sent a letter about their invented holiday to Dave Barry, a humour\u00a0columnist, and today the event is being celebrated internationally. The success of the holiday is likely due to the fun, non-restrictive nature of the idea, since it carries no trademarking and is open to creative interpretation.<\/p>\n<p>Talk Like a Pirate Day has been celebrated in the past with<strong> hidden Easter egg features<\/strong> in games and on websites.\u00a0In 2014\u00a0Reddit added a pirate theme to their website, while Facebook introduced a pirate-translated version of its website on Talk Like a Pirate Day in 2008.<\/p>\n<h2><b>How Do I Natter Like A Pirate?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Not quite sure how to talk like a pirate?<\/p>\n<p>You can find <strong>some handy <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yarr.org.uk\/talk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tips<\/a> here, or even <a href=\"http:\/\/pirate.monkeyness.com\/online_pirate_translator\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">translate your own phrases<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0to impress your \u00a0workmates &#8216;n hearties!<\/p>\n<h2><b>Facebook Wants T&#8217; Talk Like A Pirate Wit&#8217; Ye!<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Can&#8217;t get your colleagues to join in the fun?
