We\u2019ve all seen that little e-mail footer which reads \u201cthink of the environment before you print this email\u201d, and by this stage it\u2019s probably safe to say most people don\u2019t print every e-mail to put into a big metal filing cabinet in the basement.<\/p>\n

But paper is not the only thing with a carbon footprint.<\/p>\n

While the internet may have a much lower carbon footprint than old-fashioned paper systems, it\u2019s important to realize that digital technology has its carbon footprint, too (2% of the world\u2019s CO2 emissions), and there are ways that you can reduce yours.<\/p>\n

Use Cloud-Computing Solutions<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cloud-based tech reduces your CO2 footprint because it addresses two critical elements of a green IT approach: energy efficiency and resource efficiency. Your Business can save up to 85% in energy by switching to cloud, according to research by Google<\/a>. Add to that the fact that many cloud facilities are making the change to clean, renewable energy, and you have a winner.<\/p>\n

Choose a Laptop over a Desktop<\/strong><\/p>\n

Unless you really need a desktop to run space-intensive applications, choose a laptop instead. It uses a lot less power to run.<\/p>\n

Unplug your Gadgets <\/strong><\/p>\n

When you\u2019re not busy using your devices, unplug them. This goes for all devices, not only the online ones.<\/p>\n
