How to use Google Photos

If you regularly take photos on your Smartphone, then you are probably already aware of Google photos.
In case you’re not logged into Google+ on your phone, here’s how it works: You log into your Google account on your Smartphone and opt to sync your phone.

Google+ will save a copy of every photo you take in your private Google+ Drive. This is kind of creepy at times, but it’s also a super handy to keep your stuff safe up there in the cloud.

Google does more than save your photos, though.

With their latest updates, you can now use Google+ photos to edit your photos and do all kinds of cool things with them, including create panorama images by merging several individual photos together.

The best part? You don’t really have to do anything. Just take your photos, make sure your Google+ is active, and Google will pop up a notification to let you know that you have the option to create a panorama image.

It will also ask you if you want to add a location to your image or add it to an album.

Or you can go into your Google drive, click on a photo and select the edit options. You will find that you can improve the light, contrast, colour, apply filters, and group them up the way you want to.

Another simultaneously fun and creepy feature of Google+ photos is that once you’ve been using it for a while, it will send you “on this day” reminders. Which can be quite nice when it sends you a precious moment from “this day a year ago”, but a little unwelcome when the photo is your old “pre-exercise” before shot (especially when you abandoned the exercise regime a week later)!

All-in-all, Google photos is a pretty handy addition to the online universe. We didn’t ask for it, but we’re saying “okay, that’s cool, thanks a bunch” and trying not to get too freaked out when we see the occasional unpleasant blast from the past.
