As a business user, would I be able to add these packages to my business bundle through the online Customer zone?

I presume it will be shaped…

Nicely Done. Time to read the fine print.

    Hi Richard!
Not quite sure what you mean here. Are you a reseller? Or would you like to add an uncapped product to your line? You can most certainly upgrade your package through the client service area. If this is not what you’re referring to, drop me a mail and let’s see how I can help you :)

Mmm the accounts are slightly more expensive than other 4mb uncapped service providers… fair enough if its good bandwidth..

are the accounts shaped? If so which protocols?

Are there any 10 day rolling thresholds?
Whats the contention ratio like in the bandwidth pool?
where’s the traffic routed.. .via sat3 or seacom?

And is WA planning to make use of the increase capacity that the WACS cable should offer , that’s hopefully coming online shortly?

    Hi Nick,

I think our FAQ will answer these questions for you.
    http://kb.webafrica.co.za/article/AA-00833/33/Internet-Connectivity/ADSL/Home-Uncapped-Q-A.html

To answer the rest, contention ratio will be worked out when we have more users on the Uncapped pool, but we will try and keep this to an absolute minimum.

We route traffic via our network and onto SAT3 as our primary routes. SEACOM is there for redundancy.

On the side of WACS, we are possibly looking at capacity. We’ll update everyone once something solid comes out of this.

Thanks for the reply, I’ll take a look the FAQ

Keen to see what other high bandwidth users think of the service.

    No problem :)
Remember, that only if our network is under load and you’ve reached your threshold will you be pushed into a slightly lower priority pool.

  • Brian

Lower Priority still sounds like throttling or dropping speed to me.. Uncapped should be uncapped, or why else do we pay for uncapped? Is this then not false advertising?

  • http://twitter.com/WAJeff Jeffrey Denning

    Hi Brian.
We’ll only de-prioritise non-essential protocols and this will only take place during office hours. Definitely not false advertising. Everything from our Q&A to the AUP is all extremely transparent.
