“New friends.  More zombies.  Better apocalypse” – Left 4 Dead 2 is a co-operative first-person shooter game in the survival horror genre.  The term “survival horror” means you’re trying to make it out alive, against all odds, and by “odds” we mean a nation of zombies infected with a mutated strain of rabies who have a taste for human flesh and consider brains a delicacy.  Much like the WAGE team.

Players take control of one of four members of a group of survivors, fighting a legion of the undead, armed with everything from baseball bats to grenade launchers.  The tale is set in the Deep South of the United States.  The atmosphere: dark and swampy as you travel from cemeteries to cities and the outlying marshlands.  Working as a team is key, because special infected zombies can incapacitate a single team member, and he or she might need to be rescued if they can’t get out of the grasp of decaying fingers.  Plus, four shotguns are better than one.

New features to Left 4 Dead 2 include mutators, which create new game play modes.  These  include one survivor having to carry a garden gnome across the stage, a realism mode where survivors can’t see silhouettes of the rest of the team and zombies need to be taken down with a classic head shot, Follow the Liter mode where the zombies and survivors compete for gas cans, and a Chainsaw Massacre mode… which we’ll leave up to your twisted imagination.

Another great thing about blowing the undead to smithereens is that they’re not technically human anymore, so you don’t have to feel too guilty, and it’s not like someone’s going to come and ask you to mop up the mess… this is an apocalypse!  Cleaning comes in times of peace!
