New Nitro Dedicated Server Packages

On the 18th of February 2010 we are launching our new Nitro Dedicated Server range. For our Customers, this means significant bandwidth capacity at affordable rates. [...]

The two types of servers—managed and semi-managed— will have low and high bandwidth options, with the high bandwidth solution offering 100GB of traffic—twice the capacity of other comparable ranges in the market.

Our CEO Matthew Tagg, had this to say about the new servers, which are aimed at larger companies with high bandwidth and hardware needs:

The market is demanding faster boxes, better management facilities and more traffic,” he says. “Our new dedicated servers meet these requirements head-on at very generous rates.
The range features Nitro servers with KVM access, and is hosted in the Teraco data centres.
Our existing customers have the option of staying on their current dedicated server packages, or upgrading to the new range of servers. Any new customers will however be required to purchase an option in the new range.
We have discontinued our US dedicated hosting packages in our drive to retain as much content in SA as possible.

We are committed to always finding the best possible solutions for our customers,” says Tagg. “Our new range makes the most of the technology currently available.

What kind of upgrade options do you have with your dedicated server? What is the maximum RAM it can take? How many additional HDD's can you get with it? Is it only 1 CPU or can you get 2 CPU?

Those questions out of the way, how flexible in configuration are you when setting up a server, or is it a question of “We just bought 1000 of these servers from Dell (or whoever) and you just have to use that”?

Would you allow the client to buy/configure their own hardware and have it in your DC? (Question I asked Teraco, they said I should speak to Web Africa because “they don't deal with the public”)

    Hi AR
The servers can take 4 disks so we would be flexible with custom requirements there and they can take 6 x 4 gig memory. We will make all pricing available once the new Dedi pages go live later next week, On the CPU side the boards are single socket to keep the pricing good. Re Colo we are not offering that at this point but I can look at any specific requirements you may have if you PM me details on the forums.

    Regarding “Cloud Options: TBC”

Can you give us any idea as to what sort of Cloud offering you will make available?

I started a website design organization (http://www.websitesrus.co.za) 2 years ago.
Since then I have referred quite a number of clients on to your web hosting company as I did not offer hosting as a service. However I am now going to start offering my clients the service, I want to however become a reseller for your company. Is this possible?

Okay now in regards to this article, I obviously get a dedicated hosting server in which i’ll host my clients websites. Should I go for managed or semi-managed?
